FCB Nyasa Big Bullets is delighted to confirm the signing of Khumbo Banda from Dedza Dynamos on a two-year contract.
The versatile defender, who can operate as a right-back or centre-back, joins The People’s Team after spending two seasons with the Central Region-based side, where he played a key role in helping them secure and maintain their place in Malawi’s top-flight league.
Head Coach Peter Mponda welcomed the new addition, describing Banda as a player who fits the club’s competitive spirit.
“Khumbo is a fighter. He brings hunger, athleticism, and the kind of intensity we need in our defensive setup. He can play in multiple positions at the back, and we believe he will strengthen our squad depth. We’ve monitored his progress, and now we’re excited to have him in red.”
Speaking after completing his move to the 17-time Super League champions, the 27-year-old expressed his excitement at joining the country’s most successful football club.
“It feels incredible to join the biggest club in the land. I’m truly honoured and grateful for this chance. Bullets believed in me, and now it’s my time to give everything for this badge.”
Banda explained that the decision to make the switch was driven by ambition and the desire to take the next step in his career.
“Every player dreams of playing for a team like Bullets. When the opportunity came, I didn’t think twice. I’ve got goals, I’ve got hunger, and I believe this is the place where I can take my game to the next level. I’m fired up to get started with my new teammates.”
Banda, who featured against Bullets in Dedza Dynamos’ 1-0 loss at Dedza Stadium in May, shared what impressed him most about the champions during that encounter.
“Bullets don’t just play football—they fight for every ball, every inch of the pitch. That spirit stood out for me. You could feel the winning mentality. It’s something I admired, and now I’m excited to be part of it.”
Known for his no-nonsense defensive approach and physical presence, Banda is fully aware of the competition for places within Mponda’s squad, but he is ready to battle for his spot.
“I know I’m joining a team filled with quality, and I love that challenge. I’m not here to sit back—I’m here to compete. I’ll give it everything in training and matches to earn my place in the starting XI.”
He revealed that conversations with the head coach gave him extra confidence even before the deal was sealed.
“Coach Mponda kept encouraging me. He told me to stay focused and keep pushing. So when he said he wanted me in the team, I wasn’t surprised, I was ready.”
Asked about his style of play, Banda reaffirmed his reputation as a tough-tackling defender who thrives in duels against attackers.
“Look, I’m a defender. I don’t let attackers have it easy. If you dribble past me once, don’t try it again. I’m aggressive, I’m disciplined, and I’m not here to make friends on the pitch. I’m here to protect the badge.”
To the Maule faithful, Banda had a passionate message:
“I’m here to work, to win, and to fight for this club. Bullets is all about trophies—and I want to be part of that success. Let’s make memories together.”
Finally, the defender took a moment to thank his former club for the foundation they gave him.
“Big respect to Dedza Dynamos. That club gave me a home, and I’ll always be grateful for the past two seasons. I leave with nothing but respect and blessings for them.”
Welcome to Maule, Khumbo Banda!
