FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are delighted to announce the signing of centre-back Ahmad Kung’unde on a three-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2029.
The centre-back joins The People’s Team as a free agent after the expiry of his contract with archrivals Mighty Wanderers.
Kung’unde becomes the second defender signed by Bullets in the current transfer window and the club’s third acquisition ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The People’s Team have already unveiled another defender, former Silver Strikers centre-back Emmanuel Kaunga, as well as goalkeeper MacLean Mwale, who joined from Karonga United.
The Malawi giants are also set to welcome striker Dastan Banda after reaching an agreement with Civil Service United for his transfer to Blantyre.
Having spent several years with Wanderers, Kung’unde expressed his joy after completing his move to Bullets.
“I am very grateful to God for giving me this opportunity to join Bullets, the biggest club in Malawi. I would also like to thank the technical panel and the management for putting their trust in me. I am very excited to join this club,” he said.
The defender said he is ready to give everything for his new club, with helping the team win trophies among his top priorities.
“I will give it all for this club because it is a winning club. It has always been winning and I would want to be part of another history by helping the club win more silverware. I want to play a very big role by winning and giving our supporters a reason to smile,” he added.
Kung’unde becomes the latest player to swap the blue and white of Wanderers for the red and white of The People’s Team, a move that naturally comes with heightened expectations.
“First things first, I know it’s a very big challenge to switch from Wanderers to Bullets but I am ready for the challenge, and a human being has to take challenges. To me, this is a big step that I have taken and I know that a lot of people will be looking at me to see my performance with my new team, but everything is possible and I will succeed at this club,” he explained.
Kung’unde said he is looking forward to achieving more with Bullets, both collectively and individually.
“I have never won the Super League, this is my priority, and apart from this, this club is a highway to playing with the national team and abroad. I have seen several players joining foreign clubs from Bullets. This club can fulfil my dreams and it was simple to choose Bullets over others,” he told club media.
The defender also had a message for the supporters, urging them to continue backing the team.
“They have to continue supporting us. They are many and we encourage them to keep coming to the stadiums to support us. We need them because they form part of our success and we will give it all for them. We will try our level best to win the league.
“I have played in this league for years, and I am a senior player. I won’t struggle to adapt. I have come here to work and I will work hard,” he further explained.
Despite joining from a direct rival, Kung’unde revealed that he already has strong friendships within the Bullets squad, which he believes will help him settle quickly.
“I have plenty of friends at Bullets, including Frank Willard, Blessings Mpokera and Paul Master, and I am pretty sure they know that their friend is coming. I can’t wait to reunite with them.”
Kung’unde also said joining Bullets fulfils a dream he has carried since childhood.
“When I was growing up, I used to follow Bullets a lot. Being the biggest team in the land, it was easy to follow this club. I grew up hearing about Rahim Ishmael, Fischer Kondowe, McDonald Yobe and many more.
“I also started following the club when Yamikani Fodya, who comes from Balaka where I also come from, joined the team. So it has always been my dream to join this club, and today I can proudly say I am home,” he concluded.
