FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Peter Mponda has provided early team news ahead of Wednesday’s TNM Super League fixture away to Ekhaya FC.
Speaking during a pre-match media briefing on Tuesday, Mponda gave a fitness update on Andrew Jovinala, who was injured during Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Silver Strikers in the FCB at 30 Celebratory Match.
Jovinala was stretchered off in the second half but was forced to return to the pitch after Bullets had exhausted all five substitutions. The defender visibly struggled through the remainder of the game.
Providing an update on his condition, Mponda said:
“He has a knock. It’s 50-50. The doctors are working on him. He’s a very important player to the team, but if we miss him, we’ve got capable replacements.”
The versatile defender, who joined The People’s Team from Blue Eagles in January, has featured in nine matches across all competitions this season and has been deployed in various positions across the backline.
Mponda also addressed the status of Paul Master, the midfielder who recently signed for Bullets and caught the eye during Sunday’s anniversary fixture.
“The positive thing about this week is the revelation of Paul Master, the way he played in Lilongwe. It may be too early for him to play in a competitive match, but he has got a chance.”
Wingback Chrispin Mapemba also remains sidelined as he continues his recovery from a long-term injury.
