Match Officials confirmed for Ekhaya clash

The Super League of Malawi has confirmed the officiating team for our upcoming TNM Super League fixture against Ekhaya FC at Kamuzu Stadium on Wednesday, with kick-off set for 14:30 CAT.

Michael Mwambyale will take charge of the midweek encounter as centre referee, assisted by Happiness Mbandambanda and Fanuel Mailosi on the lines. Benson Subiri has been appointed fourth official, with veteran match assessor Bester Banda overseeing the officiating team.

Familiar Faces for The People’s Team

All five match officials are familiar figures, having previously handled our fixtures across recent seasons—including several matches during the ongoing 2025 campaign.

Michael Mwambyale – Centre Referee

Mwambyale first featured in a Bullets match on May 18, 2024, as fourth official during our home game against Mzuzu City Hammers at Kamuzu Stadium. He later returned for two more games before the end of that season.

His first assignment as centre referee came in April this year, when we secured a win over Songwe Border United. Most recently, he served as fourth official in our mid-June victory over Mighty Tigers. Wednesday will mark only his second time officiating a Bullets fixture as the man in the middle.

Happiness Mbandambanda – First Assistant Referee

An experienced official, Mbandambanda will be officiating us for the second time this season, having previously handled the Blantyre derby on May 31, which ended in a 1-0 loss to our rivals, Mighty Wanderers.

Fanuel Mailosi – Second Assistant Referee

Mailosi made his Bullets debut as an assistant in 2023 and has steadily earned appointments in top-tier clashes. He was last involved during our 4-0 win over Kamuzu Barracks in June.

This will be his third match involving The People’s Team.

Benson Subiri – Fourth Official

Subiri returns for his third outing as fourth official in a Bullets fixture. He first appeared during our December 2024 home tie against Karonga United, followed by our 3-0 victory over Chitipa United in mid-May this year.

Bester Banda – Match Assessor

A respected veteran in match supervision, Banda last assessed a Bullets game in September 2023, when we swept past Dedza Dynamos 5-1 to reach the FDH Bank Cup final. He continues to play an instrumental role in ensuring officiating quality remains high in domestic competition.

All Eyes on Kamuzu Stadium

Following Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Silver Strikers in the FCB at 30 Match—a special fixture held at Bingu National Stadium to commemorate our sponsor First Capital Bank’s 30th Anniversary—focus now shifts back to TNM Super League duties as we continue our push to defend the title.

We go into the midweek showdown top of the standings with a one-point lead over second-placed Mighty Wanderers, while Ekhaya FC sit just behind in third, setting the stage for a high-stakes fixture between the league’s early front-runners.

This will be our 10th league fixture of the season, as we approach the halfway mark of the first round. With momentum on the line, The People’s Team will be looking to bounce back, extend our winning run in the league, and consolidate our position at the summit.
