Peter Mponda has spoken out regarding FCB Nyasa Big Bullets midfielder Lameck Gamphani’s limited playing time.
Although five games have already been played in 2025, Gamphani is still waiting to make his competitive debut for The People’s Team this season.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who joined Bullets from Premier Bet Dynamos ahead of the 2024 season, has recorded ten appearances for the club since arriving in Blantyre.
“It’s just a matter of time, he’s knocking, he’s training well,” Mponda commented on Friday during his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s TNM Super League match against Chitipa United at Kamuzu Stadium.
He added: “But you can also see that in his position there’s Chikumbutso Salima who is doing very well. Gamphani is a good player, he’s been patient. I told him to keep on working, his chance will come.”
The Bullets head coach also addressed the status of two recent additions to his squad, Chikumbutso Henderson and Dominic Musonda, who joined the team in January and March, respectively. Despite their arrival, both defenders have yet to make their competitive debut in the club’s iconic red and white kit.
“For Musonda, he has been out, he went to get his passport [in Zambia] and is also working on getting his work permit, whereas for Chikumbutso Henderson, he was having a big injury [and] he just started training recently, he needs to work on his fitness.
“But also, if we look at the defence, the guys are doing very well, we cannot just change the defence; we have been worried about our defence, the coordination is coming from the guys that are playing, yes we need to rotate, but those guys are giving us a performance, we cannot just change,” explained Mponda.
