FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Under-19 head coach Yamikani Fodya has praised his side’s character, discipline and growing maturity following their 2–0 victory over CC Stars at Mpira Stadium on Monday morning — a result that keeps the young Maule firmly in the BDYFL title race.
Second-half goals from Emanuel Kaswaswa and Charles Kasalanga made the difference in a match where Bullets showed patience, organisation and improved game management.
Learning From Past Lessons
Reflecting on the performance, Fodya recalled the dramatic first-round meeting between the two sides, where Bullets led 3–1 but eventually lost 4–3.
“It was a tough game. I still remember our first-round match against them, where we were leading 3–1 but ended up losing 3–4. Today, we reminded the boys that once we score, we must protect that lead at all costs.”
The coach noted that Saturday’s win demonstrated how far his young squad has come in handling pressure and managing key moments.
Disciplined First Half, Clinical Second Half
Fodya applauded his team’s shape and discipline in the first half, which set the foundation for their strong finish after the break.
“These are young players who are still developing, and they did well to hold their shape in the first half, keeping a clean sheet. After making some strategic changes, we took control of the game and found the goals we needed.”
Kaswaswa opened the scoring just after the hour mark before Kasalanga sealed the victory with a composed late finish.
A Big Lift for a Developing Squad
Fodya emphasised that the result will provide a major boost as his players continue gaining confidence and understanding at this level.
“This victory is a big confidence boost for the boys. It motivates them and reinforces the lessons we are teaching about playing with focus and enjoying their football.”
Focus Now Turns to Continued Improvement
Despite the strong performance, the coach stressed that there is still more work ahead as the season progresses.
“While we are happy with the win, there is still much work to be done. We will return to training to address our weaknesses and continue taking each game step by step.”
The young Maule now shift focus to their next fixture as they look to maintain momentum and keep pace at the top of the BDYFL standings.
