December Goal of the Month Nominees

Share

Eye-catching goals from Lanjesi Nkhoma, Hassan Kajoke, Maxwell Gasten Phodo, Patrick Mwaungulu, and Precious Sambani are set to be the winner of the Precious Medical International Goal of the Month award for December.

The People’s Team scored 14 goals in the six games we played in December and five of them were simply too special to be overlooked in picking up the nominees for the Precious Medical International award.

We relive the strikes for you to choose the winner.

Nkhoma vs Silver Strikers

A thing of beauty! That’s simply what Lanjesi Nkhoma’s strike in the Castel Challenge Cup final against Silver Strikers was all about.

Picked by a fabulous pass from Chawanangwa Gumbo, the Bullets top goal scorer in the 2023 season took a dexterous first touch to beat Silver’s last man in defence and calmly managed to beat the on-rushing keeper with an ice-cold finish into the roof of the net.

In such a big match, the winger was there when needed the most to force the final into penalty shootouts from which The People’s Team emerged 4-2 victors to become the first team in the land to clinch the inaugural Castel Challenge Cup.

With all its hallmarks, Nkhoma’s strike is benchmarkable and truly deserves a nomination for the PMI monthly award.

Sambani vs Ekwendeni

Increasingly, the Bullets captain is becoming an expert in dispatching volleys into the net.

His latest, the one against Ekwendeni Hammers at the Kamuzu Stadium in the Castel Challenge Cup quarter-finals, justifies that reputation given the amount of technique applied in it.

Sambani chests down a pass from Nkhoma and on the bounce whacks the ball into the net from outside the area, leaving the goalie rooted in his spot to make it 4-0 for Kalisto Pasuwa’s side on the day.

Easy on the eye but difficult in execution was the captain’s strike and for that it deserves to be on this list.

Kajoke vs Ekwendeni Hammers

From a top striker came a top strike on a day Bullets reminded many why they are a top side.

Set through by a lovely assist from Mwaungulu, our number 9, with his weaker foot and without stealing a glance at his target, produced a sublime finish despite being crammed by the Hammers defenders to make it 3-0.

The qualities of a prototype central striker were on complete show in this goal and its nomination is nothing but a befitting one.

Mwaungulu vs Mighty Mukuru Wanderers

Inside the biggest Blantyre derby, the young magician got the fans off their seats with a sparkling strike after he was superbly assisted by Phodo.

On its way home, Mwaungulu’s strike took a deflection off a Nomads defender before going past William Thole at the near post to get the scoreline even.

This was the goal that sent The People’s Team into the final of the Airtel Top 8 and it came with some unmatched skill filled in it.

Phodo vs Soche Socials

The former Silver Strikers forward put on show a splendid connection from a Righteous Banda high ball into the box to score one of the best volleys the 2023 season witnessed.

The anticipation and the ability to clinically get the ball into the far corner, make the goal to be magnificent.

Finding itself on this nomination list stuns no one given the art and the beauty involved in it.
