Babatunde: It’s difficult to say bye to a team I loved most

Babatunde Adepoju has expressed how difficult it was to leave Nyasa Big Bullets following his move to Venda Football Academy.

The Nigerian forward this week completed his transfer to the South African National First Division side after signing a three-and-a-half-year deal that Bullets announced on Friday.

In a message to Maule, posted on his official Facebook page, the 2022 TNM Super League top goal scorer, who joined The Peoples Team in the middle of the 2021 season, said:

“Words fail me, it’s difficult to say bye to a team I loved most and achieved a lot [in] a short period of time. I believe there is time for everything, and this is another time for me to say bye to Bullets family. A deal is sealed and I am now a Venda player. My three year deal I signed with Bullets has to be cut short.”

Babatunde made 46 appearances for Bullets, scoring 34 goals and providing ten assists. He also scooped the 2021 Airtel Top 8 and 2022 FDH Bank Cup Golden Boot awards.

He added: “To players, I will certainly miss you guys. You helped me to win [the] Golden Boot and keep scoring. Together we achieved a lot. I will miss you. Let me wish you well in the new season.

“To fans, you always come to the stadium in large numbers. That noise was enough. I [will] definitely miss you Maule.”

Baba also shared a special message to the Bullets coaching staff, headed by Kalisto Pasuwa as he wrote:

“To coaches, it was a great moment working with you. You made me to be a proper player. May God bless you. God over everything.”

Babatunde won one Charity Shield, two TNM Super League titles, one Airtel Top 8 Cup and the FDH Bank Cup during his one-and-a-half-year spell with Bullets.
