Nyasa Big Bullets enjoyed a thoroughly successful month of football in May, registering five wins out of five in both home and away TNM Super League fixtures, collecting 15 points from twelve goals scored and two conceded.
The month of May started with a home fixture against Rumphi United in which Bullets hammered the Northern Region side 4-1.
Kalisto Pasuwa’s men then collected maximum points with a narrow 1-0 victory away to Civo Service United, before registering a 2-0 win against Red Lions away at Balaka Stadium.
The People’s Team then beat TN Stars 2-0 away in Kasungu, before ending the month with a 3-1 home victory against Silver Strikers to open a four-point lead at the top of the standings before the international break.
For the month of May we have three nominees competing for the newly-introduced Player of the Month, sponsored by Hubertus Clausius…
Chimwemwe Idana
The vice-captain continues from where he stopped in the 2020/21 season when he was named Player of the Season and Best Midfielder following his outstanding performance. In the ongoing season, Idana has already scored four goals and his contribution has been immense, inspiring the team to its current position in the standings.
In the month of May, he scored one goal each against Rumphi United and Red Lions. He also had a hand in our first goal against Silver Strikers at Kamuzu Stadium when his through-ball to Patrick Mwaungulu forced the visitors’ defender to commit a foul closer to the penalty box.
Precious Sambani
The gifted left-back has been very outstanding for the champions since recovering from the injury he sustained last season. He has already scored two goals and has four assists to his name in the Super League this campaign.
In the just-ended month, his most outstanding performance was against Silver Strikers in which he had a hand in the second and third goals in which Bullets won 3-1. His ability to add numbers in attack has helped Bullets to create more goal scoring opportunities and has combined well with Lanjesi Nkhoma as well as Idana, attacking from all angles to make Bullets one of the most dangerous teams this season.
Kesten Simbi
The young defender was promoted from our junior ranks and has settled well in defence since the start of the season. His partnership with Hadji Wali saw Bullets conceding only two goals in five matches. Very calm on the ball, Simbi is one of the most promising youngsters in the league and it wasn’t a surprise to see him being one of the three nominated players for the month of May. He has won more than 75 percent of aerial duels and intercepted more passes in defence, more than any of our defenders in the matches he has played so far. He got involved in all the five matches we won in May and the best is yet to come from him.
