We were too blunt – Pasuwa reacts to Silver defeat

Kalisto Pasuwa admitted Nyasa Big Bullets’ performance against Silver Strikers in the TNM Super League on Saturday afternoon was below par.

Maxwell Gasten’s 91st minute strike gave the Bankers a 1-0 win to hand The People’s Team a disappointing defeat at Silver Stadium.

It was the defending champions’ second defeat in the 2020/21 campaign as Pasuwa’s side needed a win to reduce the gap against the log leaders, who are now nine points clear at the top with 35 points from 15 games against Bullets’ 26 points from 14 games.

In a post-match interview Pasuwa admitted that his players were too blunt to find the back of the net and collect the much-needed points.

“A game that we have been defending all day. We didn’t do much in terms of attacking and our opponents wanted a win, you could see the zeal from them as they kept on fighting for each and every ball hence the result going in their favor. But it’s part of the game, we just need to wake up and respond positively in the next game,” told journalists.

The tactician went on to admit that losing to fellow title contenders is a very big concern as his boys were looking forward to reducing the gap with the Area 47 side.

“A very much concern, but remember this is a team that is leading in the standings. We wanted to reduce the gap but we couldn’t and they won, very well done for the opposition,” he added.

On conceding late, Pasuwa said: “It’s loss of maximum concentration on our part. In the last two minutes, you need to keep the ball away from the opponents and you need total concentration in order for you to take a point if the game is goalless.

“We couldn’t defend and we didn’t play well as we were always second on the ball most of the times. We were marking spaces instead of pressing. We didn’t do much and we need to go back to the drawing board so that we rectify these mistakes.”

Bullets will face TN Stars at home on Friday to wrap up the first-round of this campaign.
