FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves head coach Heston Munthali shared his thoughts after watching his side battle from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against Mwanza Stars in Sunday’s ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League clash.
The young Maule trailed 1-0 at halftime following Gerson Justin’s opener but showed strong character after the break, drawing level through Enos Henderman’s 84th-minute strike from a Misheck Billiat assist.
The result lifted Bullets Reserves to third in the standings on 40 points, level with Mighty Wanderers Reserves but ahead on goal difference.
“It was a tough away game against Mwanza, but I’m grateful to the boys for their hard work in securing a point,” Munthali said.
“The officiating was disappointing — we were denied two clear penalties — but we chose to stay focused and take the positives from the point we earned today.”
Reflecting on the performance, the coach admitted his side took time to settle in the first half before responding strongly after the break.
“In the first half, we were second on the ball, but after making some substitutions and adjusting our approach, we controlled the game in the second half and managed to score the equaliser,” he explained.
Munthali praised his players’ fighting spirit and commitment, pointing to the team’s growing resilience and confidence in recent weeks.
“The boys showed great spirit today, just as they did last weekend against Liberty FC,” he added.
“We’ll return to training, address our weaknesses, and prepare thoroughly for the next match.”
The result marked Bullets Reserves’ third consecutive unbeaten game as they continue their chase for top spot in the Southern Region Premier Division League.
