FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves Head Coach Heston Munthali says he was proud of his side’s dominant display against league leaders Ekhaya Reserves, despite being held to a goalless draw at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
“It was a tough match, but I’m proud of how the boys played today,” said Munthali. “We dominated most parts of the game, created several clear chances, and controlled the tempo, especially in midfield and wide areas.
“The only thing missing was the goal. We should have taken our chances early in the game — we had two or three moments that could have changed everything. In football, when you don’t convert your chances, you give your opponent confidence, and that’s what happened today.”
Staying Positive
Despite the frustration in front of goal, Munthali highlighted the positives from his side’s performance, noting visible improvements in composure, teamwork, and structure.
“This was a good performance from the team,” he said. “The players followed instructions, kept possession well, and showed hunger to win. We just need to be sharper in the final third — both in finishing and in making quick attacking decisions.”
League Standings
The result saw Bullets Reserves move up to second place in the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League, level on 35 points with Mighty Wanderers Reserves and Chilobwe United, but ahead on goal difference.
The People’s Team boast a superior +29 goal difference, while Wanderers and Chilobwe sit on +18 each.
At the top, Ekhaya Reserves remain leaders with 41 points from 19 games, while Bullets and Chilobwe have both played 18 matches, and Wanderers have a game in hand with 17 played.
Looking Ahead
Munthali emphasized the importance of consistency and maintaining intensity as his side continues to push in the title race.
“We take this point and move on,” he said. “The focus now is to sharpen our attack before the next game. If we maintain this level of performance and add goals to it, I’m confident we’ll keep climbing and stay in the fight for top honours.”
