Inside Bullets this week

It’s a week that the first team and the reserves will be looking to bounce back from their recent draws in the TNM Super League and the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League.

Kalisto Pasuwa’s men turn their attention to the FDH Bank Cup while Enos Chatama’s boys will visit Mpira Stadium for a crucial assignment in the second-tier league.

We give you a lowdown on what’s coming at The People’s Team this week.

First Team

After another frustrating draw in the TNM Super League away to Kamuzu Barracks last Saturday, Pasuwa’s charges will now switch focus to another challenge this season when they start the FDH Bank Cup defence in the Round of 32 on Sunday.

Playing at Kamuzu Stadium, The People’s Team will be an away side as we face Bangwe All Stars in the knock-out tie of our second competition to play in this term.

The impending fixture will offer the 2023 quadruple winners an opportunity to redeem themselves from the frustrating start to the TNM Super League title defence.

Out of the 11 league games, Bullets have only won three and lost one, accumulating 16 points that have left us fifth in the table, 13 points behind league leaders Silver Strikers.

Victory on Sunday will be a morale boost for Pasuwa’s men, who are winless since 18 May despite dominant performances in all games we have played at home and away.

Bullets have been creating numerous chances but putting the ball into the back of the net has been a problem, which Pasuwa said has left his players psychologically down.

Sunday’s cup fixture against Bangwe promises to be tricky as we will meet a side that is also looking for redemption as they continue struggling in the league, sitting in the bottom three of the table.

The winner between Bullets and Ma Stars will face either Cobbe Barracks or Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the Round of 16.

Reserves

Following their 1-all draw at home against Nyambadwe United, Enos Chatama’s boys will travel to Mpira Stadium to face Ekhaya FC on Thursday.

Bullets Reserves are second in the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League standings with 16 points after registering four wins, four draws and one loss, scoring 10 goals and conceding four. At this stage last season, they had 19 points.

Their second successive midweek fixture will see them facing a side that will be looking to bounce back from a 1-0 against Ndirande Stars on Sunday.

Women

Our women’s team continue preparing for the FAM Women’s Football Southern Region League whose kick-off date is yet to be revealed by the FA.

Under 19s

The Bullets Youth team will kick-start their long-awaited FCB Under-19 league this weekend.

As they continue fine-tuning for the new season, Yamikani Fodya’s youngsters eagerly await to learn which side they will face to begin the new campaign.
