Pressure? No Problem — Chirwa hails Bullets’ big win over KB

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets assistant coach Gilbert Chirwa praised his players for handling the pressure and securing a vital 2-0 victory over Kamuzu Barracks at Civo Stadium on Thursday.

Coming a day after losing top spot to Mighty Wanderers, Chikumbutso Salima and Babatunde Adepoju scored in the first half as The People’s Team reclaimed the lead in a heated TNM Super League title race.

Handling Pressure

“We are happy to have collected three points. The players performed very well and created plenty of scoring chances. Many thought the boys would struggle because our rivals played yesterday, but they endured,” Chirwa said.

Back-to-Back Matches

The former Bullets and Malawi defender stated the team’s preparation focused on two fixtures: Thursday’s clash against KB and Sunday’s trip to face Creck Sporting Club in Mchinji.

“Our mission is to collect maximum points so we can return with six points,” he added.

Pressure Is Part of Football

Chirwa emphasized that pressure is inherent in the game at all levels. “Pressure is part of football—every team feels it. Last season, this season, next season… we are no exception,” he explained.

Focus on the Next Fixture

He also highlighted the team’s review process after each match. “After every game, we sit with the boys to review areas we did well and areas we need to improve. We tell them exactly what to do depending on the next fixture,” Chirwa concluded.

With the win, Bullets move a point ahead of Mighty Wanderers as they prepare for Sunday’s final Central Region league match against Creck Sporting Club.
