FCB Nyasa Big Bullets return to TNM Super League action this Saturday with a home fixture against Dedza Dynamos at Kamuzu Stadium.
The People’s Team are back on league duty for the first time since the international break, coming off a dominant 3-0 win over The Boys SFC in the FDH Bank Cup Round of 16.
That result followed three important away victories in the North—against Chilumba Barracks (5-0), Chitipa United (2-0), and Songwe Border United (3-1)—leaving Peter Mponda’s men in top form heading into the weekend.
Now, with momentum firmly on our side, Maule will be looking to extend the perfect form and solidify our position at the summit of the standings as the title race intensifies.
FORM GUIDE
Bullets went into the international break on a four-game winning run across all competitions.
Our cup journey continued at Kamuzu Stadium last Saturday with a clinical 3-0 win over The Boys SFC, with Blessings Mpokera, Mike Mkwate, and Chikumbutso Salima on target.
Before that, the team travelled North for three matches, kicking off with a dominant 5-0 cup win over Chilumba Barracks. This was followed by two important league wins: a 2-0 result against Chitipa United and a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over Songwe Border United at Karonga Stadium.
These results propelled Bullets to the top of the log table with 40 points—one above second-placed Mighty Wanderers.
Going into the 18th league fixture of the season, Bullets remain the highest-scoring side in the division, having won 13 matches, scored 38 goals, and conceded just nine. Our current goal difference stands at +29.
Dedza Dynamos, on the other hand, sit ninth in the table with 21 points from 17 games. They’ve recorded six wins, scored 16 goals, and conceded 20. They head into this fixture having won two league games on the bounce—beating Blue Eagles and Kamuzu Barracks 1-0 in each—but were eliminated from the FDH Bank Cup by Crerk Sporting Club before the break.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
This match marks the ninth league encounter between the two sides since Dedza Dynamos were promoted to the top flight in 2022.
In their first season, Bullets won both matches: 1-0 in the Central Region and 2-1 at Kamuzu Stadium.
The 2023 campaign saw Dedza hold Bullets to a 2-2 draw in Blantyre and secure a historic 1-0 victory at home.
In 2024, the two league fixtures ended in 1-1 draws.
In the current season, Bullets opened the campaign with a 1-0 win away at Dedza Stadium—marking our first-ever victory in the league at that venue.
Notably, Dedza have remained unbeaten in their last two visits to Kamuzu Stadium: a 2-2 draw in 2023 and a 1-1 draw in 2024.
COACH’S THOUGHTS
“We had a break for the general elections, and just last week, we played against The Boys in the FDH Bank Cup. Now we are back at Kamuzu Stadium to face Dedza Dynamos in a league game.
We are not taking this lightly. Each and every game is tough, so we’ve been telling our boys to work extra hard. Their response has been positive, and for sure, we’re encouraging them to stay serious in everything they do.” — Gilbert Chirwa, First Assistant Coach.
TEAM NEWS
Bullets will be without goalkeeper Richard Chimbamba and defender Andrew Jovinala for Saturday’s clash against Dedza Dynamos.
Chimbamba, who missed our last outing against The Boys in the FDH Bank Cup, remains unavailable as he continues his recovery. Jovinala, who was substituted early in the first half of the same match due to a knock, is also ruled out.
The rest of the squad is fit and available for selection. With no suspensions, the technical panel has a strong group to pick from as Bullets aim to extend their winning streak in the second round.
