Nyasa Big Bullets and MAFCO FC clash in a TNM Super League encounter at the Civo Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday afternoon.
This is Bullets’ tenth league fixture and The People’s Team can move within a point of the league summit if maximum points are collected at Civo.
Current leaders Silver Strikers, who have played 11 games so far, will not be involved this weekend.
Kalisto Pasuwa’s side will play their second consecutive away game within five days after defeating Mighty Tigers 0-2 at Mpira Stadium on Easter Monday.
Bullets head into the game this afternoon on the back of two successive victories over Mzuzu Warriors and the Kau Kau Boys, scoring five goals and keeping a clean sheet.
The defending champions are currently fifth in the standings with 18 points from nine games and have scored 19 goals from which they have conceded seven.
In this campaign, which kicked off in November and was suspended in January due to Covid-19 before its resumption last weekend, Bullets have won five games, lost once and three games ended in draws.
Pasuwa’s side, which has already played two military teams this season, knows playing MAFCO at Civo will not be an easy task after the two teams met in a pre-season friendly in November away at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa where Bullets won 0-1, courtesy of a last minute goal from McFallen Mgwira.
“It’s going to be an interesting match. A good team we are meeting, which plays good football. Last time we faced them, they gave us a torrid time and we had to pull an extra mile in order for us to win and it’s also very physical in their approach,” the head coach told the media on Thursday.
He added: “I think the better team on the day will get the points, but we expect a tough game.”
MAFCO FC are heading into this match from a disappointing Northern Region trip where they collected a point from two assignments against Karonga United and Chitipa United.
The Salima-based outfit is currently sixth in the standings with 17 points from eleven games.
The match will be played behind closed doors due to government’s restrictions to any public gathering to just 50 people.
The last league visit for The People’s Team to Civo Stadium was in the 2019 season where they won 1-0 against Civil Sporting Club.
