FCB Nyasa Big Bullets return to Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday afternoon for the final TNM Super League fixture of the first round, hosting Karonga United.
The People’s Team come into this clash off a perfect week on the road, taking maximum points from Northern and Central region trips with wins over Mzuzu City Hammers and Mafco FC. Those back-to-back victories have cut the gap to leaders Mighty Wanderers to just one point in the title race.
After the setback of our first home loss of the season to Blue Eagles, Peter Mponda’s men will be determined to bounce back in front of the Maule faithful. But Karonga, stubborn as ever, promise a stern test.
FORM GUIDE
Bullets’ momentum is back after two straight wins. Late goals from Chikumbutso Salima and Hassan Kajoke sealed a 2–0 victory at Rumphi Stadium last Thursday, before Salima struck again to secure a 1–0 win over Mafco on Sunday. We now sit on 33 points from 14 games, with 30 goals scored and just five conceded.
Karonga have won two of their last three, beating Creck Sporting Club and Moyale Barracks 1–0 after a narrow defeat to Blue Eagles. They are sixth with 23 points from 14 games, scoring 13 and conceding 9.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Bullets and Karonga have met 12 times in the league, with Bullets winning eight, drawing twice and losing twice. Our last meeting at Kamuzu Stadium ended 3–1 in December 2024, while the most recent clash saw us edge them 2–1 in the Airtel Top 8 semi-final at the Bingu National Stadium in June. Karonga have never won at Kamuzu Stadium since joining the top flight.
FROM THE COACH
“A very good team—with everything in it. They’ve got pacey players, those who can keep the ball, defend, and a coach who loves passing football. They always give us problems no matter where we play them. We know their threats and are fully prepared. These three points at Kamuzu will be crucial for our season.” – Peter Mponda, Head Coach
TEAM NEWS
Bullets will head into Sunday’s home fixture with a near full-strength squad. However, Chrispin Mapemba remains sidelined as he continues his recovery from a long-term injury. New arrivals Khumbo Banda, who joins us from Dedza Dynamos, and Bright Munthali, returning to the club as a free agent after three years away, will also be in contention for their debuts in front of the Maule faithful. Their addition gives the technical panel more options as the team looks to secure maximum points.
