Despite a 3-0 victory over Chitipa United in the TNM Super League at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday afternoon, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Peter Mponda remained unsatisfied with his team’s overall performance.
Mike Mkwate opened the scoring for The People’s Team in the 37th minute, with Babatunde Adepoju adding two late goals to secure our fifth win of the campaign.
Speaking after the match, Mponda acknowledged his satisfaction with the result but admitted that Bullets’ overall performance did not meet expectations.
“The scoreline is very good, but the performance of the team was not good enough. We didn’t play the way we wanted to play. In possession, we were very slow to rotate the ball, off-the-ball, we were very slow to track down our opponents. Yes, the scoreline is very very encouraging, but the way we played today, very disappointing,” he told journalists.
Mponda stated: “In the first 45 minutes, the only positive thing the way we were creating chances, but apart from that, we are not good enough today. Yes, a lesson leanrt that when you create chances, let’s take our chances, maybe we can ease the pressure on ourselves.”
With Sunday’s victory, Bullets extended the flawless TNM Super League run, securing five wins from five matches. This impressive streak has kept us firmly at the top of the table with 15 points, having netted 16 goals and conceded only one.
The team will regroup on Monday to begin preparations for another league clash with Kamuzu Barracks at the Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.
