FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women thrashed Bvumbwe United 12-0 at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday afternoon to maintain the top position in the Goshen-FAM Women’s Football Southern Region League.

What happened

The carnage began as early as the second minute, with Rachel Matemba slotting home the opener after Tendai Sani dribbled past her opponents before delivering a beautiful pass.

Asiyatu George doubled the lead just two minutes later, thanks to another brilliant pass from Sani.

The midfielder registered her third assist of the match when she again set up George to double her tally in the 8th minute.

What a perfect display from Maggie Chombo’s ladies as they continued their dominance on the visitors and 20 minutes later, Sani, the league’s top scorer, registered her name on the score sheet with a majestic connection from Pilirani Malora’s pass.

George completed the first hat trick of the day in the 40th minute after she was found by Malora. The first half ended with Bullets Women commanding a formidable 5-0 lead.

The second half witnessed more of the same, with defender Bernadette Mkandawire scoring her first goal of the season three minutes after the restart.

Moments later, Sani completed her brace after receiving a beautiful pass from Fauzah Mohammed, before Vanessa Issah made it on the scorers’ list after coming off the bench seven minutes after the hour mark.

Sani completed the second hat trick of the day in the 60th minute, with a brilliant assist from Mohammed.

Bullets scored the tenth goal through substitute Issah, who completed her brace when she headed home to finish Wongani Mnenula’s pass in the 75th minute.

After that goal, Maggie Chombo made our final subs when she introduced Triphonia Banda and Leah Mussa for Lyna James and Linda Nyangu.

Our leading scorer Sani then extended her tally in the league to 49 when she scored her last goal of the day in the 80th minute.

Mussah then closed the day’s scoring a minute before the final whistle to finish the tie at 12-0.

Chombo’s post-match reaction

“I’m thrilled with the girls’ performance; they are showing that they are really hungry to win the championship. It wasn’t an easy match but we dominated possession, created scoring opportunities at will, and showcased our prowess in front of goal. But still, there is a lot we need to work on, the girls missed a lot of chances, we will go back to training and work on that.”
