Reserves: Bullets head South to face Nsanje United

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves will be on the road this Saturday as they travel to Nsanje Stadium to face Nsanje United in what promises to be an exciting ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League encounter.

The Young Maule will be aiming to bounce back from last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Nyambadwe United and continue their strong push in the title race.

Looking to Continue Unbeaten Run

Currently sitting third on the log with 36 points, Bullets Reserves remain unbeaten in the second round, having recorded two wins and two draws. Heston Munthali’s boys will be looking to see his charges maintain that solid run of form and close the gap on the top two sides as the campaign edges toward its decisive phase.

Bullets have shown impressive balance between defence and attack — keeping clean sheets and creating chances with consistency — but will want to turn more of those opportunities into goals this weekend.

The Challenge Ahead

Hosts Nsanje United head into the match full of belief after an emphatic 4-1 win over Mighty Tigers Reserves in their last outing. Despite that result, they remain bottom of the table with 14 points and will be desperate to build on that victory to strengthen their survival hopes.

The first-round meeting between the two sides ended in a 6-0 victory for Bullets Reserves, and the visitors will be hoping for another confident display as they look to stay within touching distance of the leaders.

Munthali: “The Boys Are Ready”

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s trip, Munthali expressed satisfaction with his team’s preparations and confidence in their ability to return to winning ways.

“The preparations are going well. The boys are responding positively to the training sessions we’ve been giving them. Yes, we’re traveling to Nsanje to face an unpredictable side, but our aim remains the same — to go there, win, and collect maximum points. I know it won’t be easy, but with the hard work we’ve put in this week, I believe the boys are ready.”

Munthali acknowledged Nsanje United’s recent form while reflecting on areas Bullets have worked to improve since their last outing.

“It won’t be an easy game, especially considering they won their last match 4-1 against Tigers, while we only managed a draw. Despite the draw, we created a lot of chances that could have won us the game — that’s part of football.

“We’ve corrected the mistakes from our previous match and focused heavily on finishing, which was our main weakness last time. With the way the boys are training and responding, I’m confident we’ll get a positive result in Nsanje.”

He emphasized the importance of focus and consistency, reminding his players to look forward rather than rely on past results.

“Every game is different, and our opponents will come with high confidence after their recent win. But as Bullets, we are well aware of the challenge. Yes, we beat them 6-0 in the first round, but that’s in the past. Our focus is on the present — getting the results we need now. I’m confident we can do that based on the quality of our training this week.”

Providing a team update, Munthali confirmed the squad is in good shape heading into the weekend fixture.

“We have no serious injuries at the moment, apart from Gift Frank, who is nursing a knee injury. Every other player is fit and ready for the game.”

He concluded by praising his squad’s spirit and determination.

“The players are showing great morale and determination, especially after the draw against Nyambadwe United. The boys are eager to get the three points, and they understand the importance of this match. We are hopeful they’ll deliver and carry the day on Saturday.”

With both sides chasing points for different reasons — Bullets in the title race and Nsanje United fighting for survival — the match promises intensity, passion, and plenty of action at Nsanje Stadium.

Kick-off is scheduled for 14:30.
