Chikumbutso Salima was named the TNM Super League Player of the Season at the awards ceremony held in Blantyre on Thursday evening, capping off an outstanding 2025 campaign that highlighted his influence, consistency, and knack for decisive moments for Bullets.
Salima, who has recently completed a transfer to Sudanese side Al-Merrikh Sporting Club, was recognised for his exceptional league performances, which played a pivotal role in Bullets’ push for the title.
The midfielder delivered several standout performances during the league campaign. In May, he scored the match-winning goal in a 1–0 victory over Dedza Dynamos, securing Bullets’ first-ever league win at Dedza. In August, a second-half header sealed another crucial 1–0 win against Mafco.

The highlight of his season came in November when Salima produced a hat-trick in a thrilling 4–3 victory over Civil Service United.
Salima was also in contention for the Best Midfielder award, ultimately won by Blessings Singini of champions Mighty Wanderers, highlighting the high regard for his performances in the campaign.
Across 28 league appearances, he scored 15 goals and provided 13 assists, finishing as one of the league’s most decisive performers. His goal-scoring feats earned him a share of the TNM Super League Golden Boot alongside Babatunde Adepoju, who returned to his parent club Venda Football Club after completing a two-year loan spell at Bullets.
Bullets finished the 2025 TNM Super League season as runners-up, with Salima’s creativity, consistency, and ability to deliver in key moments playing a central role in the team’s strong league campaign.
The Player of the Season award recognises Salima’s influence on the pitch, from his goals and assists to his vision, composure, and control of the game’s tempo. Over the season, he established himself as one of the league’s most reliable and impactful performers, cementing his status as one of Malawi’s top midfielders.
Bullets congratulate Chikumbutso Salima on being named TNM Super League Player of the Season. His creativity, goals, and commitment have left an indelible mark on the club and the league. Once again, we wish him continued success as he embarks on the next chapter of his career at Al-Merrikh SC.
