Kalisto Pasuwa’s reaction to 4-1 win over Ekwendeni Hammers

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Kalisto Pasuwa has hailed his charges for responding swiftly to last week’s 1-0 defeat away to Chitipa United by hammering Ekwendeni Hammers 4-1 at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Hassan Kajoke, Lanjesi Nkhoma, Patrick Mwaungulu and Anthony Mfune were on target for The People’s Team who returned to the top of the summit with 20 points from nine games.

Speaking to the media after the win, Pasuwa said that’s what he was looking for from his boys.

“That’s a swift reaction from the boys after our defeat last week. We came back and got the four goals. I am very happy for them because that’s what I was looking for from them,” he said.

The tactician was also quick to advise his charges to work on the sloppy first-half performances which have seen them slowing down their game only to raise the tempo in the second half where more goals have been scored in several matches.

“That’s one area where we need to correct ourselves. We keep on losing possession in the central area and in most cases, we usually start very well but as the game progresses, we drop down and then pick up again after pressure from the opposition,” said Pasuwa.

“But it’s a learning process. These are the boys that came in a year or some months ago and that’s why I have been talking of experience in the team. Learning is not a three-month thing, they will come out good,” added the coach who joined Bullets in 2018 and is eyeing his fifth Super League successive title.

He also spoke about his team’s resounding victories at Kamuzu Stadium but struggle whenever they play away from home.

“When we play away, we always concede from secondary balls as most of the teams play secondary balls where we always come second in duels. We need to sit down and work on this problem because we always concede similar goals week in, week out.”

Pasuwa also hailed Chawanangwa Gumbo for his fantastic performance against his former club.

“Very good performance from Chawanangwa who is slowly settling into our system after missing out on our pre-season sessions and you saw how he dominated the middle [of the park]. We are looking for more of these performances from him.”

This was Bullets final game before the international break next week.
