Gilbert Chirwa has named his starting XI for this afternoon’s Castel Challenge Cup quarterfinal against Mighty Tigers at Kamuzu Stadium. The People’s Team are determined to secure a spot in the semifinals and continue their pursuit of silverware, building on their Airtel Top 8 triumph earlier this season.
The FCB Nyasa Big Bullets interim head coach has made five changes from the side that defeated Ndirande Stars in the Round of 16. Blessings Mpokera returns to the starting XI and will captain the team, while captain Frank Willard will start on the bench.
Paul Master and Yankho Singo both start, adding creativity and experience to the midfield. In left defense, Henry Chiwaya replaces Dominic Musonda, who is away in Zambia attending a family funeral.
Up front, Ephraim Kondowe, who scored against Ndirande Stars, leads the attack. He will be supported by Maxwell Phodo and Yamikani Mologeni on the left and right flanks respectively. Phodo, who netted a brace in the last round, is expected to be a key threat as Bullets look to stretch Tigers’ defense.
The starting goalkeeper is Innocent Nyasulu, while the defense is marshaled by Khumbo Banda, Blessings Mpokera, and Chiwaya. Paul Master, Chawanangwa Gumbo, and Wongani Lungu form the midfield, providing balance and stability.

The substitutes for today’s fixture include Richard Chimbamba, Blessings Joseph, Edward Thengo, Frank Willard, Mike Mkwate, Peter Banda, Sean Mcbrams, Hassan Kajoke, and Bright Munthali, giving the coach options to inject fresh energy if needed.
Chirwa’s changes suggest a slightly more attacking approach while maintaining tactical discipline, aimed at securing a place in the semifinals.
