Defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have now dropped into the second position in the TNM Super League log table following Silver Strikers’ 1-0 win over Mafco FC on Sunday afternoon.
The People’s Team had temporarily moved top of the league with 20 points following their comfortable 4-1 win over Ekwendeni Hammers on Saturday.
But Silver’s win over Mafco FC means Bullets dropped into the second position ahead of the international break this weekend.
With just a point below, Bullets will go into the international break period behind the Central Bankers who have 21 points from nine games.
Bullets, 16-time league champions, are the highest-scoring team at the moment with 20 goals from nine games and have only conceded five.
Striker Lanjesi Nkhoma is the current leading scorer with eight goals. He also has four assists to his name with two man-of-the-match accolades this campaign.
During the international break, with the Malawi national team going to Mozambique for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia, Bullets will travel to Lilongwe to face the Silver in a ceremonial match to officially launch the Castel Challenge Cup at Bingu National Stadium on Saturday.
There will be no league action this week but when the action resumes, The People’s Team will have another trip to Lilongwe to play Kamuzu Barracks in Matchweek 11 before facing rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers on July 1 in Matchweek 12.
