FDH Bank Cup R32 Draw: Bangwe v Bullets

Share

FDH Bank Cup defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will begin their title defence with an away fixture in the Round of 32 against Bangwe All Stars.

This follows a draw conducted at Mpira Village in Blantyre on Tuesday morning.

Bullets and seven other TNM Super League teams Silver Strikers, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, Kamuzu Barracks, Mzuzu City Hammers, Creck Sporting Club, Moyale Barracks and Civil Service United were seeded.

It will be the first meeting between The People’s Team and Ma Stars in a cup game.

The winner between the two teams will play the winner between Cobbe Barracks and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the Round of 16.

Football Association of Malawi confirmed the R32 games will kick off the first week of July.

“We are excited with how we have progressed from the preliminary level to the national level. The draw is exciting as we have three matches involving Super League teams. It will be an exciting journey as we go to the fourth edition of this competition.

“It’s always a dream to see surprises in a knockout competition. FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves reached the final in 2022 and we saw Santhe Admarc reaching the quarterfinals of the cup last campaign and we will be very happy to see lower league teams winning this prestigious competition.

“We will be releasing fixtures before the end of this week,” said Gomezgani Zakazaka, FAM’s Director of Competitions.

FDH’s Marketing Manager Ronald Chimchere said he is looking forward to another exciting season full of surprises just as it has been the case in the last three editions.

“This is another exciting moment. We have seen very exciting fixtures in the previous editions and we are looking forward to another entertaining season. As a bank, we also focus on motivating regional teams and that’s why we equip them to compete at the national level. We know it’s a very good competition with surprises and we are looking forward to seeing which team will surprise us this season,” said Chimchere.

Bullets defended the cup last year following a 3-0 victory over MAFCO FC at the Bingu National Stadium in October.
