As FCB Nyasa Big Bullets wrap up their Northern Region tour with a TNM Super League fixture against Songwe Border United at Karonga Stadium on Wednesday, the officiating team has been confirmed by the Super League of Malawi (SULOM).
With The People’s Team pushing to keep pace in the title race, all eyes will be on referee Newton Nyirenda and his crew, who have been entrusted with ensuring a fair contest in midweek.
At the same time, bottom-placed Songwe Border United will be fighting to break their winless run and secure their first three points of the campaign. This makes the officials’ role even more crucial in maintaining order in what promises to be a tense battle.
Officiating Crew
Referee: Newton Nyirenda
Assistant Referees: McMillan Msopenge, Solomon Silobode
Fourth Official: Victor Msiska
Match Assessor: Pauper Mkandawire
About The Officials
Nyirenda is no stranger to Bullets fixtures. He has overseen numerous matches in the North as both a referee and fourth official.
This will be his first involvement with The People’s Team this season, his last being the goalless draw against Moyale Barracks at Mzuzu Stadium in May 2024.
For McMillan Msopenge, this will be his second-ever Bullets match. His first fixture involving The People’s Team came in last year’s Castel Challenge Cup Round of 16 victory over Hilltop United at Mzuzu Stadium.
Solomon Silobode is also set for his second Bullets assignment. He last officiated our narrow 1-0 away victory over relegated Baka City at Karonga Stadium, a match decided by an own goal.
Victor Msiska will be making his first appearance in an official Bullets fixture, taking up duties as the fourth official.
Meanwhile, Pauper Mkandawire will be assessing his second Bullets game after previously overseeing last year’s goalless draw away to Mzuzu City Hammers.
