Pasuwa on tight schedule: “We have to prepare for anything”

Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Kalisto Pasuwa says it is very important for his players to prepare for anything as The People’s Team brace for a very tight schedule in domestic and the CAF Champions League football.

The TNM Super League defending champions, currently topping the standings in Week 21, are also in the semi-finals of the FDH Bank Cup and will soon get involved in the continental club football on top of the upcoming Airtel Top 8.

Bullets have a league game against TN Stars at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday before switching their focus fully to the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.

Pasuwa’s men will welcome Tanzanian Simba SC at the Bingu National Stadium on 10th September then travel to Dar es Salaam for the return leg of the first qualifying round of Africa’s club football competition.

Pasuwa spoke to club media on the tight schedule, saying “it is what it is” for his team. He said the best way to be on top of things is to prepare for what’s coming in the remaining part of the season.

“At the start of the season, I made it clear that we are rebuilding a team and rebuilding a team takes time, but I am now in a situation where I am giving too much information to these young boys in a very short period of time. We are building a team and we are also preparing for CAF Champions League, Super League matches and also Cup competitions and then these boys will end up committing many mistakes.

“You saw how we played during the Blantyre derby in which they made many mistakes, but I expected that from my players because we are still in the learning phase and we will come out good out of this situation,” explained the Zimbabwean.

“All we can do is to prepare for anything because we will not have any opportunity to have [special preparations] for games, especially the Champions League, so the players will just need to adapt to the situation because it is what it is. The players should know that we will have more games than any other team in the remaining part of the season.”

After the Tanzanian trip, The People’s Team will return home to the Blantyre derby in the semifinals of the FDH Bank Cup at a venue yet to be named by the Football Association of Malawi, before switching focus back to the domestic league football.

The Peoples Team are currently top of the TNM Super League with 49 points from 18 games.
