U19s: Bullets kick off second round against Yizo Yizo

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Under-19 return to action this weekend as the second round of the Blantyre District Youth Football League kicks off, hosting Yizo Yizo at Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe on Sunday morning.

The Young Bullets resume their campaign full of confidence and momentum after closing the first round in fine form. Under the guidance of head coach Yamikani Fodya, the lads finished the opening phase second with 28 points, just four behind leaders Mighty Wanderers Youth.

Fodya’s charges will now be looking to mount an even stronger title push in the second round as the race for the championship intensifies.

They wrapped up the first round with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Ndirande Dortmund, showing great defensive organisation and attacking sharpness — qualities that have underpinned their steady progress this season.

In the FCB Katswiri U20 League standings, Mighty Wanderers Youth lead the table with 32 points from 15 matches, scoring 32 goals and conceding 11.

Bullets Under-19 trail closely behind in second on 28 points, level with Ekhaya Youth, who are third on goal difference after netting 19 goals and letting in 13. The Young Maule have scored 26 times and conceded 14, showing both attacking flair and resilience.

Earlier in the season, Bullets defeated Yizo Yizo 2-0 in the reverse fixture, and the young Maule will be aiming to complete the double.

However, the visitors — who finished the first round ninth with 20 points — are expected to come all out as they seek a strong start to the new phase.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s encounter, coach Yamikani Fodya stressed the importance of maintaining focus and consistency as the team enters the decisive stage of the campaign.

“The boys have worked hard during the short break, and we are ready to continue from where we stopped. Every game matters now, and we need to keep pushing as a team,” he told club media.

Sunday’s early kick-off at Mpira Stadium promises an exciting contest between two youthful and ambitious sides — with the Young Maule determined to strengthen their title credentials and continue showcasing the next generation of Bullets talent.
