FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Under-19s solidified their position at the top of the 2024 FCB Katswiri U-20 League with a commanding 4-0 win over CC Stars at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday morning.
Vincent Kampira got the opener and Issah Felix followed before substitute Martin Adam completed the win with a brace.
What happened
With both teams pressing aggressively, the match had a thrilling start. The first chance of the tie fell to CC Stars who fluffed it by firing wide.
Taken aback by the visitors’ early intensity, our youngsters held firm defensively for the first ten minutes.
In their first real spell, Bullets would be the first to get the breakthrough when Kampira found the back of the net after being set up by Maxwell Sakanamba.
That goal sparked our U19s to full life as Felix doubled the lead in the 17th minute, making use of a failed clearance by the visiting goalkeeper.
Our second goal proved to be Felix’s last contribution in the tie as he was taken out injured and was replaced by Adam in the 24th minute.
Those strikes from Kampira and Issa gave Yamikani Fodya’s lads a 2-0 lead at half-time.
Owen Themu and Charles Kasalanga replaced Precious Kumbanga and Blessings Chiku after the restart with Bullets Youth looking to bury the game with the third goal.
In the 47th minute, the first-half substitute Adam would make the lead much safer when he capitalized on a defensive error to make it 3-0.
The best chance for CC Stars came in the 70th minute but they put it wide again, carrying a body language that suggested they had already given in.
In the final minutes, Yamikani Fodya made further reinforcements when James Whiskies and Aubrey Dickies were introduced for Dan Matumula and Anthony Soko.
Putting the ice on the cake, Adam scored his second goal of the match in the 90th minute, connecting well to a pin-point cross from Kampira to seal a 4-0 victory.
What it means
What was their third win of the season leaves Bullets Youth on top of the 2024 FCB Katswiri U-20 League with nine points from three matches.
It looks like goals will rain for our lads this season as they have already hit double figures in goals, scoring 10 and conceding none so far.
What coach Fodya said after the win
“The boys are still learning, and we have a long way to go. We need to keep winning, encourage the team, and take every game seriously.”
Looking ahead
The youngsters will be back in action on Saturday when they play Bible Stars away at Chilomoni Stadium, before hosting Griffin Young Stars on Sunday morning at the Kamuzu Stadium.
