Bullets U19s vs. Yizo Yizo match abandoned amid drama

Sunday afternoon’s African Herbal Mixture Cup quarterfinal clash between FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Under 19s and Yizo-Yizo Warriors at Mpira Stadium ended prematurely in unexpected chaos.

The disruption was sparked by Ntopwa Youth, who, after being knocked out of the competition by a 1-0 loss to the young Bullets on 8 March, stormed the pitch in protest, forcing match officials to call off the game.

The controversy stemmed from a prior ruling by the Southern Region Youth Football Committee, which declared the Bullets U19s as rightful winners of their last match against Ntopwa. Isaac Jomo Osman’s team vehemently disputed this decision, claiming that Bullets had benefited from an offside goal that should have been overturned.

As the Bullets and Yizo-Yizo Warriors prepared to kick off their quarterfinal match, a group of Ntopwa players invaded the pitch, chanting demands for justice and airing their grievances.

Attempts by referees and officials to quell the situation proved unsuccessful. With Ntopwa refusing to leave the field, the match was ultimately abandoned.

Bullets and Yizo-Yizo Warriors now await a final ruling from the Blantyre Youth Committee on whether the match will be rescheduled.
