It was an action-packed weekend for FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, with our Women’s, Reserve, and Under-19 sides taking centre stage. While the senior team’s TNM Super League campaign concluded last week, the teams still competing showed determination, skill, and the fighting spirit that define The People’s Team.
First Team: Eyes on Cup Glory
With the league behind us, the senior team is now preparing for the Castel Challenge Cup, where we will face Songwe Border United in the Round of 32 away at Karonga Stadium on Sunday.
Having finished second in the TNM Super League with 66 points, capped by a convincing 4–0 win over Mzuzu City Hammers last week, our boys are eager to carry this momentum into knockout football and add another trophy to the cabinet.
Reserve Team: Podium Finish and Progress
Our Reserves battled to a goalless draw in the Blantyre mini-derby against Mighty Wanderers Reserves, a result that secured third place in the 2025 ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League with 56 points.
While Chilobwe United lead the table with 59 points and Ekhaya Reserves sit second with 57, our young talents can take pride in a season defined by growth, consistency, and resilience. Under new head coach Heston Munthali, who took charge at the start of the season, and with several new faces in the squad, the future is bright for this talented group.
Women’s Team: Derby Delight, Top-Three Push
In what was the highlight of the weekend, Bullets Women edged Mighty Wanderers Queens 1–0 at Mpira Stadium, thanks to Triza Chiwere’s decisive strike, completing a league double over our city rivals in the inaugural NBM Women’s Premiership Blantyre derby. The win lifted Maggie Chombo’s side to third place with 31 points from 14 matches, keeping us firmly in contention for a top-three finish.
The team will return to league action on 15–16 January, hosting Civo Service Women, before wrapping up the season with an away clash against league champions-elect Silver Strikers Ladies. Bullets will be looking to finish the season on a high, displaying the determination and quality that has been a hallmark of their campaign.
Under-19: Valuable Lessons and Focus Ahead
Our Under-19s fought hard to earn a 2–2 draw with Manchester Motors Spare after leading 2–0 at halftime, dropping to third place with 47 points. While the result was a setback, the experience gained in high-pressure moments will serve these young stars well.
They will regroup and turn their focus to upcoming home fixtures, starting with Agumbala FC on the weekend of 11–12 January, before facing Airspot FC on Chilembwe Day. Yamikani Fodya’s boys will aim to bounce back, tighten their defence, and continue their strong push in the Blantyre District Youth Football League.
Across all competitions, Bullets showed character, quality, and promise. The weekend was a reminder of the depth and talent within the club, with teams at all levels gaining valuable experience and demonstrating the vision and determination that drive The People’s Team forward.
With cup action on the horizon and the women’s team closing out the league, the club remains focused on success, development, and excellence at every level.
