FCB Nyasa Big Bullets president Konrad Buckle has challenged players to rise and fight for the red badge.
He visited Kalisto Pasuwa’s men at our training ground in Blantyre on Tuesday when he addressed several issues a week after the players had boycotted training demanding to meet our board chairperson.
The players’ request to meet Buckle came amid our unconvincing start to the season, leaving The People’s Team in fifth position with 16 points from 11 games.
Bullets, coming from winning a historic quadruple last season, are 13 points behind Silver Strikers, a team coached by Pasuwa’s former assistant, Peter Mponda.
“Playing for Bullets should actually be a pride and when you win games, you should not just win to excite the management, supporters even the board, but you should also win games for yourself.
“For you to be the superstars in the land and across the borders, you need to put your career first as you play for the Bullets badge,” Buckle told the players.
The club president further reminded Pasuwa’s men that discipline is vital and should follow proper channels when they have issues that need to be addressed by the technical team, management and the board and not rush to take their concerns to the public.
On behalf of the players, captain Precious Sambani was happy to have the president visit them and address all their concerns.
“As players, we are very grateful for this noble gesture shown by our leader. We are happy that our issues have been sorted out and we have promised the president that we will fight for the badge on Sunday [when we face Bangwe All Stars in the FDH Bank Cup]. Winning this game is very important to bring back the lost glory because we are a winning team.
“Our supporters and the entire Bullets family need to be happy again. We have been struggling but with this meeting, we are geared to go and do whatever it takes to get back to winning ways,” promised the first team captain.
Our new acting chief executive officer, Albert Chigoga, believes the meeting will help to rejuvenate the team’s season as all the burning issues that the players presented were resolved.
“It was a crucial meeting as the players had demanded to meet the club president. It’s very important to see all the issues sorted out and we left the players dancing.
“The ball is now in their hands as players because there is a lot that we are expecting from them and they also promised the president that they will get back to winning ways starting this Sunday,” said Chigoga.
The Bullets interim CEO believes, “It’s going to be a turning point in the sense that the players themselves are aware of the responsibility that is on their shoulders and they have already promised that the game against Bangwe will be the starting point for good results. They have promised that they will perform to the satisfaction of the supporters, the board, the management and all the structures of this great club.
“When it comes from the players themselves, you feel that they know what they are talking about because they are the ones who play the game. The ball is in their hands to make sure that they take their destiny in their hands.”
