Women: Hat-Trick hero Issa leads Bullets to 10-1 rout of Chilomoni

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women kicked off their Sunday in spectacular fashion with a thumping 10-1 victory over newly formed Chilomoni Queens in a pre-season friendly played at Kamuzu Stadium.

The match opened a triple-header of fixtures for the Bullets family and provided a strong statement from the reigning FAM Women’s Southern Region League champions ahead of the upcoming campaign.

First-Half Brilliance

The game began with urgency from both teams, but it was Bullets who quickly found their rhythm and seized control.

The opener came early through Vanessa Issa, who latched onto a perfect cross from Asimenye Mwanyongo after brilliant buildup play between Triphonia Banda and Chikondi Mgodi. Mwanyongo then turned from provider to scorer, finishing a well-timed ball from Wongani Mnenula to double the lead.

The relentless attacking continued as Florida initiated a swift counter, releasing Banda, who sent Issa through for her second of the match. Chilomoni briefly pulled one back through an own goal by Sphiwe Mkwalula, but Bullets restored momentum before halftime, with Issa completing her hat-trick in the 37th minute from another Mwanyongo delivery.

Bullets went into the break leading 4-1.

Second-Half Onslaught

The defending champions resumed with intent and extended their lead just four minutes into the second half as Sharon Dzimau headed home from a Trizza Chiwere corner.

In the 55th minute, the returning Mary Chavinda, who has rejoined the club after the expiry of her contract with Rayons Sports Women FC of Rwanda, marked her comeback in style with a composed finish to make it 6-1.

Midfield maestro Mgodi then scored a deserved goal three minutes later to stretch the lead even further, as Bullets maintained complete dominance.

Dzimau made it eight with her second of the match in the 65th minute, and Chavinda doubled her tally in the 71st after a clever assist from the influential Mgodi, who orchestrated the midfield throughout.

The final blow came in the 85th minute when Mwanyongo grabbed her second of the game, sealing a complete performance with Bullets’ tenth goal.

Scorers: Vanessa Issa (3), Asimenye Mwanyongo (2), Sharon Dzimau (2), Mary Chavinda (2), Chikondi Mgodi (1), (Own Goal – Sphiwe Mkwalula)
