FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Under-19s kickstarted their 2025 FCB Katswiri Under-20 League campaign in electrifying fashion, powering past a determined Yizo Yizo Warriors side with a dominant 2-0 victory at Chilomoni Stadium on Saturday morning.
It was a match that had intensity, pace, and moments of sheer brilliance from the young Maule.
Fast Start, Missed Chances
From the first whistle, Bullets Youth came out blazing—controlling possession, pressing high, and dictating the tempo of the game.
Their first big chance came in the 15th minute when the lively Innocent Chakalamba capitalized on a defensive lapse and broke free down the right. One-on-one with the goalkeeper, he looked certain to score, but to the surprise of many, his effort drifted just wide of the far post.
Chakalamba was at it again moments later, turning provider with a teasing cross that narrowly missed the boot of Hassan Madula, who had timed his run perfectly. Bullets continued to threaten, with Joel Maziya delivering a pinpoint ball into the box for Madula, but the striker’s header was safely gathered by the Yizo Yizo goalkeeper.
Despite a flurry of chances, the first half ended goalless.
Second Half Brilliance
The match came alive in the second half, and it was Bullets who struck first in the 64th minute.
Thole Sachenja sent in a peach of a cross from the left flank, and Blessings Lungu rose highest inside the box to power home a header—sparking wild celebrations from the home crowd.
Just moments after the restart, Bullets doubled their lead. Lungu, full of confidence, pressed aggressively from midfield to win back possession. He immediately slid in a perfect through ball to Jazil Bannet, who calmly slotted past the keeper for 2-0—two goals in two devastating minutes.
Substitutions and Game Management
Coach Yamikani Fodya made his first change in the 75th minute, bringing on Osman George for the impressive Lungu. Unfortunately, George’s time on the pitch was cut short due to an arm injury, prompting a double substitution in the 78th minute: Victor Chimenya replaced the injured George, while Esau Kumwenda came in for the hardworking Madula.
Yizo Yizo pushed for a late response, but the Bullets backline remained solid, snuffing out any chances of a comeback.
The referee added just three minutes of stoppage time, but there was no late drama, as the young Bullets comfortably saw out the game to secure all three points in their league opener.
