FCB Nyasa Big Bullets were in action across multiple competitions over the weekend, posting mixed results as the club continued to push its objectives on all fronts.
First Team: Phodo Hat-Trick Powers Bullets into Last 16
The senior side enjoyed a successful trip to the North, opening their Castel Challenge Cup Round of 32 campaign in emphatic style with a commanding 3–0 victory over Songwe Border United.
Maxwell Phodo was the standout performer, netting a clinical hat-trick to fire Bullets comfortably into the Round of 16. The convincing display underlined the team’s intent in the competition as focus now turns to a Round of 16 encounter against Ndirande Stars, with a place in the quarterfinals at stake.
A clean sheet combined with attacking efficiency will provide the technical panel with added confidence as the team continues to balance cup ambitions with squad management and rotation.
Under-19s: Young Maule Ready to Bounce Back Against Extending Hope
The Under-19 side faced a tough challenge last weekend, falling 1–0 to Agumbala FC in the Blantyre District Youth Football League.
Despite a spirited display, Bullets couldn’t find the equaliser, leaving them third on the log with 47 points from 25 matches, still with a game in hand. The team has now gone three matches without a win and will be keen to turn that around.
Focus now shifts to Saturday’s clash against Extending Hope at Mpira Stadium (kick-off 13:30), where Yamikani Fodya’s charges will aim to regroup, sharpen their attack, and strengthen their push for a top-two finish.
Women: Maule Ladies Set for Crucial Restart
Bullets Women were not in action over the weekend but remain firmly in the top-three conversation in the NBM Women’s Premiership.
Maggie Chombo’s side currently sits third with 31 points from 14 matches and will return to competitive action on 15 January with a home fixture against Civo Service Women. The match presents a valuable opportunity to build momentum as the league campaign enters a decisive phase of the season.
Reserves: Reflecting on Strong 2025 Finish
Bullets Reserves continue to enjoy their off-season break after concluding their 2025 campaign in third place — a solid achievement that reflects consistency, growth and depth within the club’s development structures.
With the First Team advancing in the Castel Challenge Cup, the Under-19s gaining valuable competitive experience, and the Women’s team preparing for a crucial run-in, Maule continue to demonstrate depth, balance and ambition across all levels. The weeks ahead promise further opportunities as the club maintains its competitive edge on multiple fronts.
