Emmanuel Kaunga joins FCB Nyasa Big Bullets after signing a two-year deal

Bullets complete signing of defender Emmanuel Kaunga

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets is delighted to announce the signing of defender Emmanuel Kaunga, who joins the club on a two-year deal.

The centre-back arrives at The People’s Team after leaving Silver Strikers, where he moved following a spell with Ekwendeni Hammers (now Mzuzu City Hammers). Kaunga brings vast experience to the squad, having played top-flight football for the past six seasons.

The 27-year-old could not hide his excitement about joining Malawi’s most successful club.

“It’s a great pleasure for me to sign for this club and I am very happy to be here. As we all know, Bullets is the biggest club in the country and it is always a dream for every player to play for this club,” he told Bullets Media on Wednesday after signing.

Kaunga revealed that although several clubs were interested in securing his services, the opportunity to join Bullets was impossible to turn down.

“If you look at Bullets — the structure, the platform and the vision — they align well with my ambitions and I couldn’t say no to such a massive club. It is clear this is a massive club with a great history.

“What pushed me to be here is the history behind this club. In terms of trophies and achievements, they are at the top, so I am looking forward to making my own history here. As a player, you always want to win wherever you go and I believe this place will give me that.”

Kaunga also had a message for the Red Army as he begins a new chapter with Maule.

“I don’t want to promise too much, but I believe the 2026/27 season will be great for us. We will push each other, work hard and aim to achieve greatness. On my part, I will give my full support to the team and do everything possible to make the supporters happy.”

Like many players who join Bullets, Kaunga says his ambition is to compete for every available trophy.

“Every player wants to win trophies. We are starting with the Charity Shield next month, and we will take it step by step from there and see how it goes,” he added.

Reflecting on his career so far, Kaunga highlighted winning the TNM Super League with his previous club as one of his proudest moments.

“Winning the league with my previous club was a special moment for me. It wasn’t easy, but we managed to do it, and I would love to achieve the same here with Bullets.”

The defender also acknowledged the expectations that come with representing The People’s Team but insists he is ready for the challenge.

“Bullets is a big brand that demands a lot. It is a club that demands the best at every moment. As a player, the pressure will definitely come depending on how ready you are, and as for me, I am ready to handle that pressure,” he stated.

Kaunga also revealed who played a key role in his decision to join the Malawian giants.

“When I look at Babatunde [Adepoju] and what he achieved here, he is one of the people who pushed me to join Bullets. He always encouraged me to come here and I believe I made the right choice,” he concluded.

Kaunga now joins The People’s Team as the club begins preparations for the upcoming 2026/27 season this week.
