FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will play host to Silver Strikers in a blockbuster match at Mpira Stadium on Saturday afternoon to conclude the first round of the FDH Bank Premiership.
The People’s Team return to league action after a week-long break due to cup action, with Saturday’s encounter providing an opportunity to close the first round strongly and move closer to the top of the table.
Wedson Nyirenda’s side played to a goalless draw away to Luanar Mitundu in our last league outing, while Silver Strikers also shared the points in their previous match after being held to a goalless stalemate at home by Goshen City Dedza Dynamos.
With just two points separating the sides, Saturday’s meeting promises to be another important chapter in the long-running rivalry between two of the country’s biggest clubs.
FORM GUIDE
Bullets head into Saturday’s contest after extending our unbeaten run to three league matches, although our last two outings have ended in goalless draws.
Before the break, we travelled to Dedza Stadium to face Luanar Mitundu, where neither side could find a breakthrough in a match played on a pitch the Bullets head coach described “difficult”.
The Bankers come into the game having also drawn their previous fixture at home against Dedza.

Both fixtures in 2023 ended 1-1, with Silver coming from behind to earn a point on each occasion.

Bullets completed another league double in 2019, winning 3-1 and 1-0, while the two meetings in 2018 produced a 1-1 draw and a goalless stalemate.
Silver collected four points in 2017, drawing 1-1 at Kamuzu Stadium before winning 2-1 in Lilongwe.

TEAM NEWS
We don’t have any fresh injuries to the squad apart from those of Chrispin Mapemba and Paul Master.
Master is back in training as he continues his rehabilitation ahead of his full return to the squad, while George Chaomba has fully recovered.
However, Bullets will be without Prince Chiumia due to suspension after the left-back accumulated the required number of yellow cards.
Our two new signings, Sheku Sheriff and Tinaye Tsimba, will also not feature in Saturday’s encounter as they await registration.
COACH’S THOUGHTS
With only two points separating Bullets from league leaders Silver Strikers, Nyirenda says Saturday’s encounter is a do-or-die game for The People’s Team.
“This is a do-or-die game for us. We are playing at home before our own landlords. The supporters are the landlords; they are the owners of the game. We need to give them a good send-off into the break, and we want to finish knowing that we have moved up and can begin the second round at the summit.”
“I expect a very good and explosive game. I watched Silver against Civil Service United at Civo Stadium during my first week in Lilongwe. They played very well. They are organised and tactical, and they have experienced players.”
The head coach says his technical team has studied the visitors closely and believes the preparation will help Bullets deal with their opponents’ strengths.
“Playing against an organised team can be easier to plan for because you know exactly what they are doing. On Saturday, people will watch very good football from Silver and Bullets.”
