Chiyenda, Aziz injuries update

Nyasa Big Bullets medical team has provided an update on goalkeeper Rabson Chiyenda and midfielder Aziz Mwakifuna, who sustained injuries during our TNM Super League 1-1 draw against Ntopwa FC at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.

Bullets were forced to make an early change in the first minute following Chiyenda’s shoulder injury while Mwakifuna was stretched off 20 minutes later after twisting his ankle.

Team doctor Felix Mwalule, who is also head of medical at the club, made an update on Sunday morning after the two were taken for treatment at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.

“Aziz has a fractured distal fibula on his left leg and we expect his recovery to take a minimum of six weeks. He is currently in a plaster,” he explained.

After Chiyenda was pulled out, first aid assessment suggested that the Bullets custodian had dislocated his shoulder, however, the team doctor reported that a scan showed there was no dislocation.

“On Rabson, the injury was not as bad as the first assessment suggested, it’s minor. He pulled a shoulder ligament and he will be on the sidelines for two weeks,” Mwalule told Bullets Media.

The latest injuries mean The People’s Team has five players on the injury list. They join Righteous Banda, Ben Manyozo and Precious Phiri.
