Match Preview: Nyasa Big Bullets vs Blue Eagles

Share

The 2020-21 edition of the TNM Super League kicks off with a truly mouthwatering fixture this afternoon as Nyasa Big Bullets and Blue Eagles lock horns in what is set to be an ideal curtain-raiser at the Kamuzu Stadium.

Bullets, who won the championship last season, and Eagles, who finished in the top four, will want to make a massive statement on Saturday to kick start their title ambitions.

The People’s Team has won four league titles in the last six seasons and will want to further their extraordinary streak this season.

In the 2019 season, the two teams shared three-points apiece but it was Bullets who registered a big win by recording a 4-nil victory at Kamuzu Stadium.

However, this afternoon’s fixture promises to be different all together.

Both teams have had a seven-month break due to the Coronavirus pandemic and this will have an impact on players who are the architects of the game.

During a pre-match press conference in Blantyre on Thursday, Bullets head coach Kalisto Pasuwa described Blue Eagles as a good side, but he was very optimistic of recording a good result by the end of 90 minutes.

“We are hoping for a very entertaining game. Blue Eagles is a team we cannot underrate. It’s a physical side which is very quick on the ball. I think we have done our homework well, because last time we were on top of their game, but we ended up losing the match,” he said.

Bullets head into the match without several key players, notably Peter Banda who is mourning the demise of his grandfather as well as John Lanjesi, Dalitso Sailesi, Chimango Kayira, Righteous Banda, Sankhani Mkandawire and Chiukepo Msowoya, who are nursing injuries.

The People’s Team is the only unbeaten side at home for the past eight seasons and they will do whatever it takes to maintain the good run at home.

Pasuwa’s side managed to keep a clean sheet in their last four games last season and will be looking forward to continue from where the boys stopped when the two teams met last season.

The match kicks off at 14:30 and will be live on Mibawa Television.
