FCB Nyasa Big Bullets captain Lloyd Aaron has declared that the defending champions are ready to fight for glory in the Airtel Top 8 final against Silver Strikers on Sunday at Bingu National Stadium.
Addressing the media on Friday in Lilongwe, the skipper spoke with confidence as Bullets gear up for Sunday’s title showdown in the Capital City.
High Morale Despite League Setback
Bullets head into the decider on the back of a narrow 2-1 league defeat to Civil Service United last weekend, but Aaron insists that result will not affect their focus.
“As players, morale is good. Losing to Civil shouldn’t affect us. This is a cup final and we’re focused on defending the trophy and taking it back to Blantyre,” he said.
One Win Away from Glory
Having already overcome Creck Sporting Club in the quarterfinals and Karonga United in the semis, Aaron believes their hard work has put them within touching distance of another title.
“Just reaching the final is motivation in itself. We’ve worked hard to get here. We’re one win away from lifting the trophy—this is a must-win match,” the captain emphasized.
Respect for Silver Strikers
Although Bullets have had the upper hand in recent meetings, including last season’s 1-0 victory in the Airtel Top 8 final, Aaron was quick to stress that past results mean nothing.
“We can’t say we have the upper hand. Yes, we’ve beaten them before, but this is a different match. League games and cup finals are not the same. We must work hard and not rely on past results,” he warned.
Message to the Fans
The skipper also urged Bullets supporters to stay behind the team despite recent league setbacks.
“To our fans, please keep supporting us. In football, you win some, you lose some—but I don’t believe we’ll be on the losing side this Sunday,” Aaron assured.
The Final Countdown
The 2025 Airtel Top 8 final kicks off at 15:00 CAT on Sunday, July 20, at Bingu National Stadium. The People’s Team is aiming for back-to-back titles and a record-extending fourth Airtel Top 8 crown.
