Bullets vs Kamuzu Barracks to be played behind closed doors

Nyasa Big Bullets’ 2020/21 TNM Super League match against Kamuzu Barracks on Sunday at Kamuzu Stadium will be played behind closed doors.

This follows Government’s decision to maintain the restrictions on public gathering to just 100 people due to the upsurge in Coronavirus.

On Tuesday, the Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 revealed that the injunction, which was obtained by a group of musicians a week ago, was vacated on Sunday, paving the way for the committee to apply the restrictions imposed before the court order.

This means teams will only be allowed to play games without fans as confirmed by the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) in a statement on Wednesday.

“All games shall be played under closed sessions of not more than a 100 people gathering. We would like to assure all our stakeholders that safety and security at the match venues will be enhanced to ensure that all measures are adhered to,” reads part of the statement.

Sulom has further reminded clubs and match officials to adhere to all Covid-19 preventive measures and guidelines.

“We would like to remind Clubs and match officials to mask up, wash hands, sanitize and [observe] social distance.”

The elite league governing body has also warned clubs to resist from allowing fans to watch games at the stadia, saying law enforces have been given powers to arrest all those that will be found loitering within stadium premises.

“It will be a misconduct to find supporters around Stadium premises and law enforcers are advised to arrest all those found loitering within Stadium premises without due responsibility. All those duly sanctioned to provide services will be accredited,” says the statement.
