Despite a comfortable 3-0 win over Moyale Barracks, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Peter Mponda felt his players were too relaxed and should have delivered more.
The People’s Team reclaimed the top spot on the table with goals from Chikumbutso Salima, Sean McBrams, and Chawanangwa Gumbo.
While pleased with the result, Mponda felt his side should have scored more to seal a more convincing victory.
“I’m happy with the win, but performance-wise, it was 50-50. Maybe the game was too easy for us, which led to unnecessary mistakes that shouldn’t happen, especially at home. Still, a win is what matters,” he said.
After halftime, Mponda made four tactical changes, including substituting Babatunde Adepoju, who had a strong first half.
“The starters did well in the first half, but with a busy schedule ahead, we needed to rotate and keep players fresh to finish the game strongly. We are managing fixtures carefully while chasing results,” he explained.
Mponda also praised his defense for bouncing back after their struggles against Karonga United in last weekend’s cup match.
“Defensively, we were much improved today. The coordination between our defenders and midfielders helped us maintain possession and contain pressure. Our challenge remains converting chances into goals,” he added.
Bullets now turn their attention to Sunday’s FCB 30th anniversary match against Silver Strikers at Bingu National Stadium.
