Reserves: Five-Star Bullets dismantle Mwanza Stars to go top

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves produced a scintillating performance at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday morning, ruthlessly dispatching Mwanza Stars 5-0 to reclaim top spot in the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League.

Fast Start and Early Pressure

From the onset, Bullets signaled their intent. Within the first minute, a corner kick from Prince Chiumia caused early problems, though the visitors cleared the danger.

Shortly after, Kondwani Tebulo almost gave Bullets the lead with a curling free kick that flew just over the crossbar.

The pressure intensified as Oscar Petro forced a sharp save from goalkeeper Tawina Phiri in the 17th minute, winning yet another corner. The Mwanza defense stood firm—temporarily.

Chiumia and Billiat Fire Bullets Ahead

In the 25th minute, midfielder Prince Chalera won the ball in midfield and picked out Petro, who fed Chiumia for a calm finish to put Bullets 1-0 ahead.

Just four minutes later, Petro was denied by the post after meeting another Chiumia corner.

Bullets continued to dominate. Chalera nearly doubled the lead from a Vincent Kampira cross before injury to Matthews Nkunika forced an early substitution, with Enos Hendeman entering the fray.

Right on the stroke of halftime, Misheck Billiat added a second, finishing off a clever Chalera assist to send Bullets into the break with a commanding 2-0 lead.

Second-Half Onslaught

Bullets picked up where they left off in the second half. Within two minutes of the restart, Hendeman capped off a beautiful team move started by Billiat, making it 3-0 with a confident finish.

In the 53rd minute, Kampira forced another save from Phiri with a curling free kick before coach Heston Munthali introduced Movic Banda and Hadji Steven in the 67th minute.

The impact was instant. Banda scored just three minutes after coming on, tapping in from close range after an excellent delivery from Petro to make it 4-0.

Tebulo Seals It in Style

With Mwanza Stars reeling, Bullets pushed for more. Tebulo, already instrumental throughout the match, capped off his stellar shift with a solo stunner in the 85th minute, dribbling past defenders before calmly slotting home the fifth goal.

Despite losing Kondwani Mhone to injury after all substitutions had been made, forcing the team to finish with ten men, Bullets’ backline remained composed and untroubled.

Full-Time: Bullets Reserves 5-0 Mwanza Stars

A commanding performance, brimming with creativity, control, and confidence, saw Bullets Reserves bounce back from their previous draw in spectacular fashion.

With this win, the young Maule not only collect maximum points but also return to the summit of the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League table.
