2023 ThumbsUp Draw: Bullets Reserves to face Premier Division stagers

Share

The ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League reigning champions, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves, have been drawn in Group B of the 2023 campaign, which kicks off on 23 April.

Conducted by the Southern Region Football Association at Mpira Village on Wednesday, the draw saw 22 teams slotted into two groups.

Eleven teams will battle for a place in the knockout stages reserved only for each group’s top four finishers.

Last year our lads won Group 2 with 52 points and cruised through the knockout stages before outsmarting Bangwe All Stars 2-0 in the final to complete their championship defence.

In their group this campaign, young Maule will mostly cross swords against familiar outfits which have had quite an experience playing in the premier division.

The likes of Fomo FC, Ntaja United, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Reserves and seven other second-division main-stays will stand on the champions’ way to yet another title defence.

Rookies in the division, Mwanza Stars and Mwanza United, who are both drawn in Group A, will face each other on 23 April in a launch match at the Mwanza Community Centre Ground.
