Blantyre derby early team news

Share

We have early team news ahead of our clash against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the TNM Super League at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Head coach Kalisto Pasuwa supplied an update on his squad as Bullets gear up for the 14:30 kick-off, our third home league match of this campaign.

Maxwell Phodo will continue to be on the sidelines after being ruled out for six weeks following ankle damage away to Dedza Dynamos in our league opener four weeks ago, as Chikumbutso Salima is in week three of no action since he sustained a knee injury against Mighty Tigers.

“In our camp, we have some of the guys who are still out,” said Pasuwa as he spoke to club media. “Maxwell Phodo and Chikumbutso Salima are adding to the numbers of the guys who are still out.”

Added the Zimbabwean: “The rest of the guys are ready to rumble on the derby.”

Mike Mkwate continues to be on the sidelines since June following a tibiofibular fracture to his right leg, while Clever Mkungula, Alick Lungu and Frank Willard continue to recover after undergoing surgeries in February.

WANDERERS TEAM NEWS

Our rivals received a huge boost after their captain Lawrence Chaziya appeared during the team’s pre-match press conference on Friday morning.

The Malawi defender missed two matches in this new campaign after a groin injury that forced him off the field in the first half as the Nomads beat new side FOMO FC 3-0 at Mulanje Park on 14 April.
