Bullets to face Silver in Airtel Top 8 semi-finals

Share

Nyasa Big Bullets will face Silver Strikers in the semi-finals of the 2022 Airtel Top 8 Cup.

The tie was decided after the Central Bankers recorded a 2-0 victory away to Kamuzu Barracks on Sunday to progress with a 3-1 goal aggregate following a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

Bullets were the first to seal their spot in the final four with an 8-1 win over Karonga United in the two-legged ties, with the second quarter-final match ending 1-1 after the first leg ended 7-0 in favour of the defending champions.

This will be the second Airtel Top 8 meeting between the two teams in a year after they met in the final last December at Kamuzu Stadium in which Kalisto Pasuwa’s men won 5-4 on penalties.

The semi-final fixture indicates Bullets as a home team, but the venue will be officially confirmed by the Football Association of Malawi.

It will also be the fourth meeting between the two giants in the Airtel Top 8, with the first meeting played in 2017 when Bullets lost the quarterfinal tie 1-0 on aggregate.

In other semi-final ties in the 2022 campaign, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers will play Blue Eagles.

The Nomads defeated MAFCO 4-0 on aggregate while the Area 30-based Eagles were 3-2 winners on aggregate against Dedza Dynamos.

The semi-finals will be played on the weekend of 10 and 11 December with the final being set for 17 December 2022.
