Early team news for Bullets vs Dragon

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are preparing for Sunday’s CAF Champions League first preliminary round second leg against Equatorial Guinea champions, Dragon FC, at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

The People’s Team will go into this match with a massive advantage following the 2-0 away victory in Malabo last Sunday.

But Bullets arrived in the capital on Wednesday ahead of the return match and travelled to the capital without a key defender who was featured in the first leg at the Estadio de Malabo.

Providing an update on his squad before Sunday’s tie, head coach Kalisto Pasuwa, who travelled to Equatorial Guinea without Mike Mkwate, Alick Lungu, Stanley Billiat and Hassan Kajoke due to injuries, revealed Bullets have suffered another setback.

“Precious Sambani is the new entry on the list of players on the sidelines as he suffered a groin injury that will keep him out of action for three weeks,” he told club media on Thursday.

Pasuwa explained: “He was substituted after the opening half as he was not feeling comfortable with his leg and we had to take him out to avoid collateral damage. So, for him to completely recover, he needs three weeks, and then we will see how he will respond afterwards.”

Our head coach also provided an update on some squad members who arrived home with flu from our outing away in the Central African nation.

“We had six players who were down with flu and these are Clyde Senaji, Patrick Mwaungulu, McFallen Mgwira, Kesten Simbi, Frank Willard and Ephraim Kondowe who were under medical observation, but they are now improving and our medical team will continue monitoring them for the next two days to see how they will come out on Sunday.”

Going into the next tie with a two-goal advantage, Bullets will be looking for another positive result to progress to the second preliminary round for the first time since 2015.

Democratic Republic of Congo’s TP Mazembe awaits the team that will sail through the first preliminary round for a place in the group stages of Africa’s biggest club competition.
