FAM announces 2025 calendar

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will begin the Airtel Top 8 Cup title defence in the second week of April as the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has released the 2025 football calendar.

The country’s soccer governing body released the calendar on Tuesday, with the season officially kicking off on 29 March with a Charity Shield match between Silver Strikers and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.

FAM says the TNM Super League will kick off on the 5 March, and a week later, the first legs of the Airtel Top 8 Cup will follow.

Bullets will likely face Creck Sporting Club in the first leg of the knockout competition.

The 2025 season will come to an end in February next year as FAM seeks to align the Malawian football season with the international calendar.

The schedule has included dates for the men’s and women’s national teams’ engagements, youth competitions, the newly introduced National First Division League and the regional competitions.

For the first time in six seasons, Bullets will not take part in the Charity Shield after missing out on both the TNM Super League and the national Castel Challenge Cup.

Meanwhile, The People’s Team, under new head coach Peter Mponda, continues preparations for the upcoming season.
