Inside Bullets this week

Share

We are now into Week 2 of December and it continues to be a hectic month for Nyasa Big Bullets, with the men’s first team, the reserves and the women’s side all lined up for action this weekend.

Now let’s take a look at what’s coming ahead this week…

Men’s main team

Fresh from their convincing 3-1 win over Silver Strikers in the semi-finals of the Airtel Top 8, Kalisto Pasuwa’s men return to the field of play with one mission, to defend the cup they won last season when they host cross-town rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in a blockbuster final to be played at Bingu National Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

It will be the first time for the two teams to face off in this competition since its launch in 2017. A win will see The People’s Team sweeping every trophy in the 2022 season, having already won the Charity Shield, the TNM Super League and the FDH Bank Cup.

The Airtel Top 8 final will mark the end of the 2022 football calendar in the top flight, which started in March with a Charity Shield encounter between Bullets and Silver at Kamuzu Stadium.

Reserves

After advancing to the semi-finals of the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League by beating Prison United 5-2 in the two-legged quarterfinal ties, Enos Chatama’s boys will switch their attention to the semi-finals of the Nyasa Capital Finance Cup when they travel to Nsanje to play Nsanje United on Sunday.

A win will further take them closer to the title they won in its inaugural year last season. This will also be the first time for Bullets Reserves to play Nsanje United in a competitive competition.

Women

Maggie Chombo’s ladies will look to maintain their form as they will be hosted by Bangwe Super Queens in the FAM Women’s Football Southern Region League this coming weekend.

The high-flying ladies hammered Blantyre Hotspurs 21-0 to take their tally to 30 points. Bullets Women have scored 111 goals in 10 matches in which they are unbeaten as they target to retain the championship.

Youth

The Autley Kalulu youngsters are only waiting for the Manchester Motor Spares Cup, which is likely to kick off this month after wrapping up the First Capital Bank U-20 League season in November.
