Phiri wins second successive Player of the Month

Share

Precious Phiri has been voted the Hubertus Clausius Player of the Month for October.

The midfielder wins the award for the second month in a row after he first scooped the September POM.

Phiri, who can also play as a wingback, has started in seven out of the eight games The People’s Team played last month in all competitions.

The 27-year-old is enjoying what is probably his best season at Bullets following his arrival from Mighty Tigers in 2018.

Versatile Phiri’s form has improved tremendously this campaign to become a regular in Kalisto Pasuwa’s starting XI.

He has already played a crucial role in helping The People’s Team retain the FDH Bank Cup, reach the semi-finals of the Airtel Top 8 and return to the top of the TNM Super League standings.

His nominations in the past two months have seen him vie for the Hubertus Clausius Player of the Month for the first time since the introduction of the monthly club award last season.

In September he was voted the best performer after getting the majority of the votes from Bullets fans above Ernest Petro and Patrick Mwaungulu, while in October he was competing for the award against Ephraim Kondowe, who won it in August, and goalkeeper Rabson Chiyenda who received his first nomination.
